Plight of old age

Plight of old age

"Age isn't how old you are but how old you feel. Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Two things you discover when you're older and wiser — you're not actually any wiser, and behind the wrinkles, you're not any older, either."

Old age is that period in human life that is feared by all sensible persons. Physically it is that period in which human beings get weak and dependent on their nearer and dear ones. Various diseases come to them and they are not active as they were when they were young because of being a kind of physical and financial burden of their children, they start getting neglecting.

Not only that, they feel thrown out from their own blood. This is the stage in their lives which is most feared. Many cruel children, especially their sons, treat their old parents as a burden and think of sending them to old age homes. The ages think it’s better to dead. Old age homes are not the solution but in such a situation they bring more hope, from them.

At least in old age home, they meet others in similar circumstances. On getting together they get some relief from their man-made problems. But what is needed are a few words of love and affection from their own and a little of care. They are never a burden. The younger generation must think that they will be too old one day.

And secondly, they are there because of their old parent’s hard work and efforts. It’s a phase of life that comes sooner or later to all of us. So, Respect your parents rather than taking them as Burden.
